Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially added an electrified variant of the Land Cruiser to its lineup. Retail sales of the Land Cruiser HEV began on June 24, 2026, following its preview at the 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). The new variant expands TMP’s electrified vehicle lineup to cater to different customer lifestyles while supporting the company’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Guided by Toyota’s multi-pathway approach and its mission of empowering customers to choose what is proven, the Land Cruiser HEV combines a new hybrid powertrain with the legendary SUV’s long-established reputation for durability and capability.

Built to Last, Born to Lead

Built on a 70-year legacy of quality, durability, and reliability, the Land Cruiser nameplate has been in production since 1951. Originally introduced as the Jeep BJ, it later adopted the Land Cruiser name before evolving into one of Toyota’s most recognized and respected SUVs. Over the decades, Toyota continued to refine the platform, building a reputation for a powerful and dependable off-road vehicle.

The Land Cruiser made its local debut in 1990 with the Land Cruiser 80. That generation introduced significant improvements in comfort, features, and technology while building on the capabilities of its predecessors. The SUV has since developed a loyal following among enthusiasts, with examples from different generations still commonly seen on local roads, a testament to the model’s reliability, proven performance, and enduring appeal.

The Legend Enters an Electrified Era

The current-generation Land Cruiser 300 is a full-size SUV built to take on both urban roads and demanding off-road terrain. It is powered by a 3.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine producing 306PS and paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The Land Cruiser HEV introduces a new hybrid powertrain with an electric motor producing 49PS and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine producing 415PS. The hybrid variant also features electric power steering for a lighter steering feel, while subtle exterior updates include Aero styling with Jet-Black Garnish accents.

These additions usher the Land Cruiser into the electrified era while preserving the qualities that have defined the nameplate for generations, combining its heritage of proven durability and performance with Toyota’s latest hybrid technology.

“The Land Cruiser HEV is part of Toyota’s efforts in offering different powertrains that address our customers’ needs and lifestyles. Customers who want to experience the legendary heritage and proven performance of the Land Cruiser while having access to Toyota’s hybrid technology will find this car to be the perfect choice as their partner on the road. We hope the addition of the Land Cruiser HEV to Toyota’s wide lineup of cars gives our customers the power of choice when it comes to their mobility needs,” said Elijah Marcial, TMP first vice president for vehicle sales operations.
