Thousands of Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers have been unable to access their accounts on Wednesday as the banking apps went down.
According to Downdetector, the majority of reports are relating to the Lloyds and Halifax banking apps, with many users struggling to log in.
A number of frantic customers have posted online, saying they were unable to make any payments, either via their cards, online banking or app.
Downdetector, an online platform which provides real-time information about the status of various websites and services, showed that the spike of complaints began at around 11am on Wednesday morning.
At it’s peak at around 12.30pm, there were almost 5,000 complaints made on the tracking site.
Both Lloyds and Halifax have posted on social media to apologise for the outages, saying they are working to fix the problems.
Both account posted identical messages to X, writing: “We’re aware some customers are having issues with our app and online banking. We’re really sorry about this. We’re working hard to fix it and will let you know as soon as we’re back to normal.”
Customers also took to social media to complain.
One wrote: "Can't buy any lunch on my only break in work today", with another posting: "Trying to sell a car, can't access my account to accept bank transfer, what a useless bank!"
Another couldn’t pay for their food shop, writing: "Stood in Sainsbury's, basket of food, and I can't access my money."
